moving part 12- construction week 6

More delays this week. We came in on Monday and not much had been done, so it doesn’t appear that we will be moving this week. The other surprise was that the desk did not take the stain or the manner it was applied and it came out more like a brown paint. After a [...]

moving part 11- construction week 5

The construction continued on this week. In the original project plan, the construction was supposed to be completed this week, but delays have held the progress up. The delays seem to stem from the ductwork and the ceiling above the conference room, which has held up some of the other contractors. The painters were in [...]

moving part 10- construction week 4

Another great week of progress – they have all of the built in desks installed and setup some tests of the stains for us to approve. The painters were in and painting the walls and the conference room area. The bar over the kitchen sink had the template set up for us to approve and [...]

moving part 9- construction week 3

It continues to amaze at how quickly it’s all coming together. This week they started the construction / installation of the desks. They had 3 of the desks installed and laid out templates for two other areas. We decided that one was going to be too long, so it was good that they showed us [...]

moving part 8- construction week 2

Constructed continue this week. It’s great to see how fast everything is coming together. This week they fully installed the kitchen cabinets, ran all the wiring, sheetrocked the ceiling, put the frame of the conference room in, received a lot of the materials (carpet, cork for the conference room, kitchen tiling etc).

moving part 7- construction week 1

Construction started on Monday, 4/5. As were getting into work we could hear and see the workers and materials arriving. By 10:00am the city had shut down the job site as they needed to revisit the 2nd means of egress. Off to a roaring start!

moving part 6- the budget

Once Vinny had approved the plans, it was time to present them to the contractor for the quote. The construction is being done by Pine Brook Corporation out of Kittery, ME. Pine Brook did the build out in Weyland’s office. Both Vinny and Tom have worked with Pine Brook in the past and spoke highly [...]

moving part 5- the decision

Once the concept and overall layout had been chosen, we met with Tom 3 more times to flesh out the final details and requirements. The goal was to finalize as many of the decisions as possible so that we could: Make a decision as to whether the space would work for us and if so, [...]

moving part 4- the designs

Before we get too far, it would be helpful to explain the requirements and information that we gave Tom.  From a functionality perspective the only requirements were: We needed a conference room area (the biggest omission from our office at 208 Market St), A kitchen area Workspaces for 8 to 10 people Storage And if [...]

moving part 3- the deliberations

The next week we got back to Vinny with a list of questions (explain Triple Net again, how many parking spaces does it come with, what’s included in the build out allowance, how long is the lease etc) and we went and looked at the space one more time for good measure. This office had [...]
